AT together with Municipal Deputy Mayor of Gjakovë/Djakovica witnessed cleaning of illegal garbage dump site in the vicinity of Ali Ibra/Kolonia settlement, mainly inhabited by Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, including returnee community. A private recycling company responded on voluntary basis to municipal call to clean the area with heavy machinery and work force.
It should be noted that on 6th of September 2018, at the Community Outreach meeting organized by AT, supported by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, inhabitants of Ali Ibra/Kolonia settlement presented as a great concern tons of garbage piled in their vicinity, posing health risks to the community, especially to the children passing by on their way to school.
The inhabitants highly appreciated quick municipal response, as well as, Advancing Together (AT) role on this issue.
